Llansawel School closed at Easter 2015 Ysgol Llansawel ar gau adeg Pasg 2015
Overview
Crochan Cwm Cothi is a Community Interest Company set up by Bill Davis before his passing. Bill was a well-known character in the locality and was passionate about delivering services for the local population. He was involved in the Village Hall, drove the refurbishment of the public toilets and was fundamental in the relocation of the Meithrin to its current location.
The current directors of Crochan Cwm Cothi CIC (Crochan) are working hard to bring some of Bill’s dreams to reality.
The aim of Crochan is to create a multi-stranded hub of activities based on the former primary school at Llansawel, which will be beneficial to both the local and the wider communities. The different strands fall into three areas:
- Fitness, Wellbeing and Sport
- Culture, Education and Arts
- Rural Economy
To enable these aims, Crochan intends to carefully restore and preserve the main school building, to introduce some sports installations to the school field and to place some new buildings on the adjacent grassy space beside the school yard, for a range of beneficial uses including small business opportunities, visiting services and retail outlets.
The new buildings and the restored school building are to be designed for flexibility of use. Crochan’s strategy is stability through diversity, to encourage new individual ventures through minimising running costs, and to be able to readily replace any ventures that for whatever reason may not fulfil their promise or end unexpectedly Adaptability is also essential for the future, as technology and other factors continue to remould the way communities function.
A small amount of private capital is available for immediate use, pending further funding.
It is a vital part of this plan for the school to improve the independence and self-reliance of the communities which it serves, through providing volunteer and entrepreneurial opportunities, as well as self-managing some activities.
The facility will be a suite of rooms and buildings which have little or no running costs, are comfortable and well-equipped, are easily kept clean, can be readily adapted to a wide variety of community purposes into the future, including services to the public, and may provide some employment opportunities for local individuals or organisations to carry on a light trade or business.
Trosolwg
Mae Crochan Cwm Cothi yn Gwmni Buddiannau Cymunedol a sefydlwyd gan Bill Davis cyn iddo farw. Roedd Bill yn gymeriad adnabyddus yn yr ardal ac roedd yn frwd dros ddarparu gwasanaethau i’r boblogaeth leol. Bu’n ymwneud â’r Neuadd Bentref, bu’n gyrru’r gwaith o adnewyddu’r toiledau cyhoeddus ac roedd yn hanfodol i adleoli’r Feithrinfa i’w lleoliad presennol.
Mae cyfarwyddwyr presennol Crochan Cwm Cothi CIC (Crochan) yn gweithio’n galed i wireddu rhai o freuddwydion Bill.
Nod Crochan yw creu canolbwynt aml-faes o weithgareddau yn seiliedig ar yr hen ysgol gynradd yn Llansawel, a fydd o fudd i’r gymuned leol a’r gymuned ehangach. Mae’r gwahanol feysydd yn perthyn i dri maes:
- Ffitrwydd, Lles a Chwaraeon
- Diwylliant, Addysg a Chelfyddydau
- Economi Wledig
Er mwyn galluogi’r nodau hyn, mae Crochan yn bwriadu adfer a chadw prif adeilad yr ysgol yn ofalus, cyflwyno rhai gosodiadau chwaraeon i gae’r ysgol a gosod rhai adeiladau newydd ar y llecyn glaswelltog cyfagos wrth ymyl iard yr ysgol, ar gyfer ystod o ddefnyddiau buddiol gan gynnwys cyfleoedd busnes bach, gwasanaethau ymweld a siopau.
Mae’r adeiladau newydd ac adeilad yr ysgol wedi’i adfer i’w dylunio i fod yn hyblyg o ran defnydd. Strategaeth Crochan yw sefydlogrwydd trwy amrywiaeth, i annog mentrau unigol newydd trwy leihau costau rhedeg, ac i allu disodli unrhyw fentrau na fydd, am ba reswm bynnag, yn cyflawni eu haddewid neu’n dod i ben yn annisgwyl Mae addasrwydd hefyd yn hanfodol ar gyfer y dyfodol, wrth i dechnoleg a ffactorau eraill barhau i ail-lunio’r ffordd y mae cymunedau’n gweithredu.
Mae swm bach o gyfalaf preifat ar gael i’w ddefnyddio ar unwaith, tra’n aros am gyllid pellach.
Mae’n rhan hanfodol o’r cynllun hwn i’r ysgol wella annibyniaeth a hunan-ddibyniaeth y cymunedau y mae’n eu gwasanaethu, trwy ddarparu cyfleoedd gwirfoddoli ac entrepreneuraidd, yn ogystal â hunanreoli rhai gweithgareddau.
Bydd y cyfleuster yn gyfres o ystafelloedd ac adeiladau sydd ag ychydig neu ddim costau rhedeg, sy’n gyfforddus ac â chyfarpar da, sy’n hawdd eu cadw’n lân, y gellir eu haddasu’n hawdd i amrywiaeth eang o ddibenion cymunedol i’r dyfodol, gan gynnwys gwasanaethau i’r cyhoedd, a gallant ddarparu rhai cyfleoedd cyflogaeth i unigolion neu sefydliadau lleol i gynnal masnach ysgafn neu fusnes.
